  Delivered to a small gathering of Women on the evening of 17th of March 2024 We will remember what was given .  To all the Women who hold sacred in their hearts the Lord’s Restoration as administered through Joseph and Emma Smith, I welcome You. Thank You for being here. In order to understand our duty and to move forward into the new season approaching, we need to turn our hearts in remembrance of that which was given at the commencement of the Female Relief Society of Nauvoo in 1842. Specifically, to once again come under the authority and mirror the divine female pattern of heaven, to comprehend the prophecies, and to be diligent to the responsibilities devolving upon us as laid out through the revelations of Joseph Smith until his martyrdom 1844. And again, as daughters of the continuing Restoration, we must strive to remember the counsel given by our Elect Mother Emma. May her words and guidance become precious to our hearts today...

Here is a very important example recounted by Joseph Smiths Mother, that also demonstrates a young Joseph Smith acting in zeal without understanding. It is a good example of a willingness to keep the commandments of God but not fully understanding what the Lord means by exactitude . Sometimes our minds want to please the Lord so much and prove our love through our obedience and willingness to go out and serve or do a thing, that we move in haste. This haste can be equated with zeal with out adequate knowledge or partaking of fruit out of season, rushing the pass, or thinking we understand what the Lords prophecies mean, and then going on to make foolish mistakes thus resulting in, as Mother Smith said, "Wiles and Machinations" I also thought of The Lord of the Rings wherein the simple hobbit Frodo Baggins of the Shire is burdened through inheritance with a calling and chosen to return the ring to the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor. At four overflowing meetings of the Ladies of Nauvoo, members of the Female Relief Society, (each meeting being composed of different members that all might have the opportunity of expressing their feelings) held at Gen. I was sent the following question and I have permission to share it here by the author: "I have a couple questions; it was stated that a man’s wife MUST sustain him in order to obtain a certificate, does that apply to one who has a certificate and then his wife rescinds her sustaining of him? If she claims he is unworthy at any given point even with a certificate does it negate his ability to use the certificate and his authority outside of his immediate family?  The servant of the Lord was very adamant that the wife MUST sustain her husband or he is unworthy.  Just curious how that is suppose to be with all things considering.
